We run as a family club, none of the great work that we do would be possible with out the support, time and effort put in by the children, parents and family members.
We aim to provide a safe training ground for children and their families.
The club use a formal child protection policy in accordance with the RFU guidelines.
The club runs comprehensive checks on all the volunteers that work with the club.
All coaches and support staff are police checked by the Criminal Records Bureau. These checks are monitored and updated regularly by the child welfare officer. Reeds are supported in this by the RFU child protection team.
To contact the RFU direct, phone 020 8831 6655, or e-mail childprotection@therfu.com
or call Ann Hutchins, RFU Child protection direct on 020 8831 7479.
We are constantly trying to improve health and safety services available at the club. St John’s Ambulance are present every Sunday to assist incase of injuries. We are currently in the process of allocating and training a first aid person for each age group.
Accident and Emergency forms are available to download from the web site. These forms are secured and monitored by the child welfare officer in accordance with the data protection act.
We have a zero tolerance policy for any discriminatory behaviour, this includes any form of bullying.
All our coaches have access to great training and development opportunities. We run a number of internal courses during the season. In addition we host and attend course run by the RFU. These include Coaching Level 1 and 2, specific courses for forwards, backs and safety as well as refereeing courses. (Please do not hesitate to contact your age group head coach for any further information on this). Each course that our coaches attend helps to improve the quality of the coaching provided at the club.
We have developed a great balance of family atmosphere in a competitive rugby club. The children’s safety, enjoyment and development are our main priorities.
Should you have any concerns about any child protection issues, please contact our child Welfare officer – Victoria van Heerden – 07882625479.
Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) Policy
“The RFU is registered with the Criminal Records Bureau to assist it in ensuring that those who take up appointments do not pose a risk to the children in its care. The RFU may therefore process criminal records data disclosed by the CRB. This will be processed in accordance with the CRB’s Code of Practice for Registered Persons.”
As a mini and youth club working with children from 4 –18 the children’s safety is paramount to the club and it’s ethos. Every person aged 16 and over who helps at the club in any capacity MUST have a Criminal Record Bureau Check (CRB).
