The Ethos of our game is alive & kicking within the club. We are a very successful club but winning isn’t everything. Our aim continues to be to teach the kids the basics of our game with safety in mind and to ensure that they understand the benefits of working as a team ensuring respect is given to each other, coaches, opposition and officials. Respecting the individual is key!!

Last Season

What a season we had last year—there were so many highlights—I have detailed some of them below:

I would like to publicly thank last season’s U12s for leading the section so well. They are led by the inspirational Mike Turner whose knowledge of the game is top notch. Under his guidance & that of his predecessor Richard Jones he has created a very successful & well knit group of boys who play the game hard & in the right spirit. For me this was encapsulated in 2 incidents last season when they behaved superbly. The 1st incident was their reaction to the unacceptable over zealous reaction of their opponents in the Cobham A festival as they celebrated a last minute victory. Whilst they were running around screaming, mud sliding etc etc our players & coaches held themselves together & formed a guard of honour & waited for them to walk through. The 2nd incident was a reversal where we won a very close encounter—rather than running around like loonies the players (to a man for that is what they are) went round shaking hands of players, referees & opposition coaches. Whether we win or lose WE must always respect the opposition.

U12s we wish you the very best in your 1st season of League rugby.

Next Season

You will see that we have been busy in the close season creating more car parking & playing space by clearing the scrub land by the U6 & U7’s playing area. This reclaimed land should be usable from January-this will create more space for the U6s & allow our Youth teams to warm up longer before their League matches.

I am very proud of YOUR club & feel we have something really very special. Howvever I do need more of you to come forward & help as without it we fail.

All the best for this season

Simon Wallis
Chairman
