The Head coach is Mike Turner. He played at Loughborough University and then at various clubs including Colstonians in Bristol. Mike has become head coach this year after a very successful tenure from Richard Jones. Mike has a son, Daniel, in the squad and lives locally in Weybridge with wife Lu, daughter Rosie as well as the head of the household…Maisy the golden retriever!!
The squad has been extremely successful all the way through the age groups. This is because we are passionate that every boy gets a chance. We are very proud that every boy in the squad will have played in either the Surrey A or B festivals this year. Our B squad were runners up in Surrey - an excellent result. We are not a huge squad where your son will get lost. We play hard and we play to win but not at all costs - we promote good sportsmanship from the boys and respectful behaviour from all the parents when supporting their sons. Most importantly it's great fun for the lads as parents alike!!
We practice on Sundays and Wednesday evenings.
We were runners up in the Cobham A festival. We won the plate in the Guildford B festival. We were semi finalists in the Guildford A festival and plate winners in the Effingham A festival. Our B squad were runners up in the Surrey B festival.
Next season will be our first year in youth rugby. Depending on the division we qualify in we will be very keen to be successful in our first proper league playing non continuum rugby (proper rugby!) It will be 15 a side and our real goal is to recruit a few more boys so that we can field 2 strong teams.
We will look to have some pre-season training at the end of August and early September - this will focus on getting the squad working well and raising fitness levels after an indulgent summer holidays. We may also do some touch in the summer at the club.
