| Reeds Under 9’s 2007-2008 Season
Now in the under 10s we currently have 45+ children training regularly on a Sunday morning. This year 10 new players have joined the age group and we managed to retain the vast majority of players during the transition from tag to contact last year. These children come from at least 12 different schools and the majority of them have been with us for a number of years. It has been a pleasure to see them develop not only as rugby players but also as young people. We currently have 1 RFU Level 2 coach and 7 Level 1 coaches who are ably assisted by a small army of Mums and Dads.
Tthe 2007-2008 season brought some notable success as we ran out winners at 3 festivals- Effingham and Leatherhead A, Kings B and Guildford B. We also made sure that all of the children were given the opportunity to play in at least one festival over the season.
As an age-group and as a club we pride ourselves not only on the style of rugby that we play but also the spirit in which we play. As coaches we strive to provide an environment in which the children can safely learn the core techniques of the game whilst having fun. We have moved away from the old school drill based style of training, where you would have to do 20 press-ups every time t he ball was dropped and instead gone for a games based approach. By playing lots of games we can coach rugby in a competitive, realistic and most importantly fun way. We would welcome any new players who would like to come down to training and give us a 'try'.
Look out for us in the U10's!
