Youth

Welcome

A warm welcome to our Reeds Youths, whether you’ve been at the club for years or are thinking about trying rugby for the very first time, the Reeds family friendly nature extends right through all ages. Many of the youths have older or younger brothers playing at Reeds too. We love to see new players joining each season. The season starts in September and runs until the end of April. Come and give us a try!

This year we will be starting on Sunday the 6th September 2020 and will be playing right through (except for Christmas and Easter) until the end of April. Our annual membership for our youth players is £195 with a 10% discount for those players with an older sibling at the club.

The Reeds U12’s age group runs up to 3 teams with a full programme of league and friendly fixtures. We have 15 coaches helping to develop the boys to be the best they can be, both on and off the pitch.

Training takes place on our pitches in Whitely Village, on Thursday evenings, at 7pm. Sunday’s are reserved for matches, or additional training sessions, normally at midday. We will host matches at home, but also travel around Surrey to play other clubs.

At the end of each season, we run an incredibly popular tour (with parents encouraged to join in the fun!). At the end of the 20/21 season, we will be travelling to Eindhoven for a weekend of rugby and activities, creating long-lasting memories for the kids.

Despite our large numbers, we are always looking for new players. With plenty of coaches and pitch space, we can cater for many more. Whether you are a novice or looking for a new club to showcase your skills, come and give Reeds a try.

Our focus is on development, first and foremost. Our fully inclusive environment gives opportunities to players of all standards, the chance to learn and play at a level that is appropriate for them.

Most importantly, we’re all about having fun. We like to win but seeing smiles on faces is far more important.

We continue to look for new players and would welcome anyone considering Rugby. All we ask is for enthusiasm and commitment. We will do the rest!

We also like to tour and over the last few years we have visited many parts of the country and we will be touring this year too. Tour is a fundamental part of Rugby life and provides an opportunity for some bonhomie, tour court and a chance to play different teams.

Reeds Colts 2019/20 Season

The Reeds colts are a combination of 2 age groups (U17 &U18) which over the years has been extremely successful in the Harlequins and Surrey Waterfall cups. The 38 players represent 10 schools and are very welcoming to new players joining this ambitious squad.

Typically we train every Wednesday at 7 Pm and we play a mixture of friendlies and cup matches every Sunday from September through to April.

The coaching team is led by Tim Schofield with John Tyndale being our specialist backs coach. They are supported by Mark Stratton (S&C coach) and Jon Stratford. Reeds are focussed on player pathway development and as a result the coaches are supported by specialist coaching clinics from our senior club.
